Bread & Butter Pudding

One of my best friends, Sally, has been craving for this B&B Pudding since early raya tapi i ‘sengaja’ tak ambik pot because it’s raya and i don’t have the time to do it for her… well, she never actually ask me to do it, but being a friend with oven.. (kata nabil – lu pikir la sendiri kan…).

But last Saturday, i baked this B&B pudding in return of her favor for fetching me to our friend’s open house (Omar).   Alah, sebenarnya tipu, diri sendiri yg teringin jugak… hehheheheheh (konon takmo rasa bersalah la tu..).  For me, this pudding is marvellous.. the best from a few recipes i’ve tried before.  But i prefer to eat it warm.. kalau makan lepas dah refrigerate, dia keras sket.. tapi kalau makan masa suam, lembut je.. masuk mulut je terus hilang.. heheheh..  i’m gonna make this again next week!!..

Bread & Butter Pudding
Tried several times and results were marvellous. combined recipe from resipi.com for the delicious sauce for topping (2nd recipe)
 
Ingredients:
8 slices of Gardenia Toast’em bread (i used 10 pcs of normal bread )
1 can of evaporated milk
1 can of water (use the same evaporated milk can)
3 eggs – lightly beaten
4 tbsp of sugar
3 slices of cheddar cheese – tear to small pieces
butter (for spread)caramelized sugar (i used 3/4 cup sugar, dissolve over medium heat – no water)

Method:
1. Spread caramel sugar to the bottom of the mold
2. Spread butter to each slice of bread
3. Cut bread to triangle shape
4. Arrange bread slice to the mold till finish
5. Pour evaporated milk, water, and egg to the bread. (i combined all b4 pouring)
6. Sprinkle sugar to the mixture.
7. Arrange cheddar cheese pieces in on the top.
8. Sprinkle with raisins.
9. Leave the mixture for 30 min to let the liquid to be absorbed by the bread.
10. Bake at 160C for 20 mins.

* Good to be eaten chill.

Sauce for topping

3 tbs corn flour
1 can of evaporated milk
2 tbs sugar
 
Mix the 3 items together and cook for 2-3 mins…..ready to eat.
 




Danisya’s Favorite – Kuih Tako

Tak tahu pulak Danisya suka sangat kat Kuih Tako ni sampailah bulan puasa hari tu.. Tiap2 hari dia nak kuih ni..  Lepas baca doa makan bila masuk azan Maghrib je, dia belasah kuih ni sampai 3.. then, baru makan nasi.. pastu sambung makan tako lagi.. selalunya mesti beli RM4 (ada 8 biji)..  Ada 1 gerai kat area rumah tu yg hanya jual tako ni.. boleh tahan la rasanya.. kalau dia punya dah habis, beli la jugak dari gerai lain tapi mesti Danisya komplen..  Ada 2 kali yg kitorang dapat makan kuih tako dari Shah Alam (tak tahu pulak which part) sebab boipren anak sedara saya yg belikan.. memang sedap gilos!!!  Danisya boleh makan 8 biji tu sorang2…. dahsyat sungguh!!

So, hari Sabtu lepas, saya tried buat tako ni, but disebabkan tak kuasa nak buat casing daun pandan tu, saya letak dalam bekas kecik ni jelah.. Masa nak buat tu, Shida Aziz called, dia suggest alaskan daun pandan dalam bekas kecik tu utk bagi bau daun pandan (thanks for the brilliant idea, pesal la tak terfikir langsung!).. pastu add sengkuang cina jugak (w/pun leceh betul nak buang kulit sengkuang cina yg cenonet ni).. lepas balik dari latihan menari, Danisya terus mengadap tako yg ibu dia buat.. habis 3 bekas jugak la.. pastu simpan lagi 3 bekas sebelum hantar yg lain2 kat rumah mak..  Kata Danisya, sedap… malam sebelum tido, dia belasah lagi 3 tu..  tapi sebenarnya tak boleh lawan tako shah alam tu..  For me, yg bhg hijau tu a bit sweet, next time kene kurangkan gula..  & next time nak try guna resipe lain pulak yg guna tepung Hoen Kwee…  & masa masak kedua2 bahagian atas & bawah, saya masukkan jugak 2 helai daun pandan.. kasi bau pandan habis la tu!!!

KUEH TAKO  

Bahan.. Ingredients
Lapisan Bawah Bottom Layer
1 cawan tepung jagung [kurangkan sikit..dalam 2 s/kecil] 1 cup corn flour (reduce about 2 tsp)
1 cawan gula 1 cup sugar
4 cawan air 4 cups water
pewarna hijau/jus pandan green coloring / screwpine leaves’ juice/paste

Bancuh rata dan masakkan atas api/dapur. Tuangkan dalam bekas acuan daun pandan atau bekas plastik kecil. Mix all and heat up till bubbled. Pour into small containers or screwpine leaves casing.

Lapisan Atas Top Layer
1/2 cawan tepung jagung 1/2 cup corn flour
4 cawan santan pekat + garam 4 cups coconut milk + salt to taste

Kacau rata dan masakkan atas dapur sehingga pekat. Tuangkan atas adunan hijau tadi. Mix and boil them till thick.  Pour on the green mixture.





Donut my love..

I made these some time back (before Ramadhan)…   saje suka2 buat love shape… but now i know, sebenarnya ada sebab acuan donut direka macam tu (kosong kat tengah).. pasal bila buat love shape ni (especially with this recipe), dia ada ruang angin kosong kat tengah2… tapi kalau buat style donut biasa tu, takde pulak… but cantik jugak rupa dia kalau buat love shape ni..

Next time kalau nak buat donut lagi, nak try guna donut cutter yg laaagi besar sebab semalam masa makan petang kat Istana Budaya (sementara tunggu my daughter buat rehearsal), makan donut kat cafe kat dalam tu..  donut dia lembut jugak (tapi yg i buat laaaaagi lembut!!) tapi nampak sooo gebu and tempting sebab dia buat besar2..

Going Bananas

Apart from papaya, i love banana…  i got another easy Banana Cake recipe from my officemate, Ida (thanks sooo much!!).  This is my second time baking this cake.. Insanely Delicious!!  Especially when they’re still warm.. can’t remember how many i ate!  Here’s the recipe if you wanna try (in Bahasa):-

BAHAN A

5/6 biji pisang (preferabably pisang mas….klau dia gi belayar, tggu dia balik hehehe)

4 biji telur gred A

1 cawan minyak masak

1 cawan gula

 

BAHAN B (perlu diayak bersama)

1 ½  cawan tepung gandum

1 sudu kecil soda bicarbonate

 

 

Cara2:

  1. Ambil blender, masukkan pisang, telur, gula & minyak…campurkan semua dan blend sampai halus.
  2. Masukkan adunan pisang tadi ke dalam bekas dan masukkan Bahan B. Gaul hingga sebati.
  3. Greasekan loyang, masukkan adunan dan bakar hingga masak.

Pst: kek yg I buat tadi tu, guna pisang berangan jer cos lama sangat nak tggu pisang mas balik dari belayar….kebulur dulu la gamaknya…..hehehe
